Neil Muscat continued piling national age-group records during the ASA time trials on Saturday afternoon when he set two new Group ‘C’ marks which belonged to Julian Harding.
Muscat clocked a time of 27.33 seconds in the 50m butterfly to clip 0.21 seconds off the old limit and 1:10.92 in the 100m breast, 0.28 seconds inside the previous record.
The 14-year-old Neptunes swimmer is now closing in on the maximum number of records in the 14/15-year category with a total of 10 out of 13 to his credit.
Muscat already has his name on all the 13 marks in the ‘B’ group, while in the most junior ‘A’ category he has three out of the four listed records.
This is a remarkable total of 26 national junior records.
Meanwhile, Muscat is due to travel to Ajaccio, Corsica, today to take part in the Island Games.
Other Maltese swimmers in the group are Laura and Sarah Demicoli, Andrea Bellia, Gabriel Dimech, Michael Stafrace, Jordan Calleja and Alex Turnbull.
The Maltese swimming team will be under the guidance of coach Neil Agius.
