Malta and US discuss Mediterranean
The US is increasingly concerned about the growing instability in Libya, an American aide told Maltese Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella during a meeting in Valletta.
The governments of Malta and the US discussed the latest developments in the Mediterranean during a meeting between Dr Vella and Kathleen Doherty, deputy assistant secretary from the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
The two sides exchanged views on recent developments in Libya including the standoff with the armed militias and the adoption of the political isolation law. Libya remains in a state of tension, despite the killing of Muammar Gaddafi in October 2011.
