To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Blessed Pope John XXIII’s Encyclical letter Pacem in Terris, a conference was recently held at the main hall of the Gozo Curia by the Social Action Movement, Bishop Nicholas Cauchi Foundation and the Centesimus Annus Foundation PP, under the patronage of Gozo Bishop Mario Grech.

The title of the discussion was Pacem in Terris – is it still relevant 50 years later?

Joseph Borg from Centesimus Annus made the introductory address, while an overview of the encyclical was given by University lecturer Nadia Delicata.

Austin Bencini spoke about the order in the universe, politics and the common good, while Fr George Frendo’s contribution was about the order in the human being: the law and conscience.

The conference came to an end with some remarkable reflections by Mgr Grech.
