The second concert in the Bir Miftuħ International Music Festival series is set to put the spotlight on the Lucentum Horn Quartet, made up of Jose Garcia Gutierrez, Gabriel Garcia Gutierrez, Jose Chanza Soria and Alberto Garcia Izquierdo.
The concert, which offers a unique opportunity to listen to a first-class quartet of French horn players and to appreciate the beauty of this versatile instrument, is being made possible thanks to the support of the German Embassy.
The four Spanish musicians will take the audience on a musical journey through their eclectic repertoire, which ranges from early classical to contemporary with a strong German flavour, featuring stimulating works by Wagner, Von Weber, Bruckner, Muller, Reichert, Homilius, Tscherepnine and Shaw.
Jose Garcia Gutierrez is principal horn with the Spanish Radio and TV Orchestra in Madrid; he performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician, apart from teaching and orchestral coaching and is also a member of the Radio Televisone Española Horn Sextet and the Cosmos Wind Ensemble.
Gabriel Garcia Gutierrez is principal horn with the Orquestra Sinfonica de la Region de Murcia and coaches chamber music with the Brass Academy in Alicante.
