Three players from the Justin Haber Academy (JHA) have just spent a week’s training at Sunderland AFC’s academy – The Academy of Light which has recently acquired a Category 1 Status within the Elite Player Performance Plan in England.

Leo Agius (10), Steve Farrugia (12) and Nathan Vella (13) were selected by JHA head coach Steve McClarence and SAFC International Development Coach Gordon Chisholm to make the trip to England and have a first exper-ience of what the professional game is like.

Agius was selected to play an academy game for Sunderland against rivals Newcastle United.

He left a very good impression and scored one of the goals in a 3-0 win for the Sunderland boys.

During their stay in England, the three JHA hopefuls also had the opportunity to meet and chat with Sunderland FC manager Paolo Di Canio.

Meanwhile, it was announced that the Justin Haber Academy will host an Open Week with a free session for each age-group between May 25 and 31.

The new programmes include the ‘Little Dribblers’ session which is specifically designed to work with young beginners.

JHA also provide girls-only football sessions and a special goalkeepers’ session with Malta international Justin Haber as part of the training programme.
