A 1980s edition of The Beano comic spotted in an episode of Dr Who has been reprinted for its fans, allowing them “to travel back in time”.
Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, was seen reading a Beano summer special from 1981 in an episode aired on April 6, The Rings Of Akhaten.
Publishers were inundated with messages from fans and decided to reprint the 32-page comic, including it free inside a special edition of The Beano which is now on sale.
The latest edition is part of a series of specials being published this year to mark The Beano’s 75th anniversary, which it celebrates in July. (AP)
Cultivating ‘green’ friends
Lonely hearts in rural America are joining a special group, Singles in Agriculture, to try to find companionship.
Unattached farmers, men and women, get together several times a year in rural communities for dances, bowling or just to talk about agriculture.
Although the organisation is not strictly a dating service, members have found a spouse or special friend through it. (PA)
