Following a market analysis and years of providing services from Malta Comtec International has set up a base in Tripoli, Libya.

Comtec is operating from its headquarters in Ben Ashour, a very central district in downtown Tripoli along with a service warehouse centre out in the more rural area of Sareej, which ensures a comprehensive and prompt coverage of all the Tripoli area.

Comtec was one of the first organisations to return into the new free Libya, when it was called in to provide a much-needed disinfestation of one of the Maltese owned hotels found along the coast, which had laid abandoned for most of the campaign. Comtec moved in to provide a disinfestation service ahead of other locally based international service providers, which had still not returned.

Speaking about the establishment of its headquarters in Tripoli, Comtec international director, Peter Mercieca said: “Comtec is very proud to have made this first step into Libya with our team and our strategic partners. The company plans on growing further within the region in the future, taking Comtec Malta and turning it into Comtec International.”

Mr Mercieca added: “The Libyan market constitutes a strong mix of challenges and opportunities to those who will appreciate that numerous changes are being made, within a society that perhaps still needs to fully comprehend the value and purpose of all these changes.”

Comtec’s branch manager in Tripoli, Ray Anastasi, said: “Comtec has established a team of experienced pest controllers with an accumulated experience pool of more than 15 years of local knowledge and continuously taps into the 45 years of know how embedded in the Malta based team. Distance to and from this market is no barrier in this modern internet based society.”

Comtec is Malta’s oldest and predominant pest control service provider. The company was set up in 1967 in Church Street, Sliema.
