Charles Cutajar, 50 of Cospicua, known as Patatu, was today acquitted of five counts of theft and relapsing after Magistrate Audrey Demicoli considered how the actual thief had been convicted and he had declared that the accused had nothing to do with the crimes.

The court noted that the two men Leandross Cutajar and the accused, were stopped by the police, who found a number of stolen items in their car.

It appeared that Leandross Cutajar had used the car of the accused at night when the accused was at home. He was at home when thefts were committed. He did not know that the stolen items were in the luggage compartment of the car.
