The Court of Criminal Appeal this morning partly revoked a jurors’ verdict of guilt in the case of Panamanian Eduardo Navas Rios.

Mr Navas Rios was last year fined €10,000 and jailed four years and six months after jurors found him guilty of a number of charges including money laundering, the possession of a firearm and aggravated theft.

The court ruled today that there was no evidence beyond a reasonable doubt for the jurors to find Mr Navas Rios guilty of aggravated theft.

The court, however, confirmed his guilt as regards to the other charges and reduced his sentence to three years and 10 months in jail.
