CACHIA. On May 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANDREA, aged 82, widower of Giorgina, née Borg, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by his beloved family. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved children Rosette and her husband Aaron Spiteri and Lilibeth, in-laws, nephews and nieces, their respective spouses and families, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3pm for St Andrew’s parish church, Luqa, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 3.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at Luqa cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CILIA. On May 12, Fr JOE, OFM Conv., St Paul’s Bay parish priest, at Dar tal-Kleru, Birkirkara, from St Paul’s Bay, aged 61, passed away peacefully, comforted by rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his brothers in the OFM Conv. community, his mother Paula, his brothers Mario, Manuel and David, his sister Rita their spouses, Joe widower of his sister Tessie and their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and St Paul’s Bay community and friends. A funeral cortege will be held today at 4.15pm from Dar tal-Kleru, to near St Paul’s Bay Boys Museum. At 5pm, the cortege will proceed to Our Lady of Sorrows parish church, St. Paul’s Bay where he will be exposed to the public until tomorrow, when a Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm. After the Mass, a cortege with Fr Joe’s coffin will be accompanied by St Paul Band, St. Paul’s Bay to near Banif Bank followed by interment at the Ħniena Divina Cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. Donations to the New Mission OFM Conv. of North of India will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GERADA – Dr ANTHONY (Tony) PAUL JOSEPH, originally from Żejtun, born January 10, 1924, died peacefully on March 1, 2013 in Sheringham, Norfolk, England. Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, doctor and friend to many who all feel the loss of his life tremendously. May he rest in peace now that he is reunited with God and his already deceased parents, brothers and sisters. Mass will be said on May 17 at 5.50pm at San Girgor church, Żejtun, followed by burial in the family grave.

Naxxar bazaar

The Community of the Dominican Sisters of Main Street, Naxxar are organising a bazaar in aid of the restoration of the chapel adjacent to their convent.

It will be open between June 10 and 20 from 8.30am to 12.30pm and 4 to 7pm.
