A man who had been drinking to celebrate his birthday left a trail of damaged cars and motorbikes in his wake on the way home.

Anthony Camilleri, from Sliema, was drinking at a bar at the Ferries on Friday night.

Leaving the bar he went on a rampage, scratching and denting cars, pushing motorbikes to the ground, and causing damage to two porches and a shop window, Magistrate Audrey Demicoli heard.

Police caught him in the act not far from his home in Tower Road as he was knocking one of the motorcycles over and emptying two garbage bins onto the street.

He insulted the officers as they were arresting him and later, while at the police station, kicked and broke a desk.

One of the victims told the police that all 15 plant pots in his front porch were smashed while another said his front porch light was broken.

Mr Camilleri was also charged with threatening police officers at the Sliema station, swearing in public and breaching the peace.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and told the court that although unemployed, he was prepared to pay for the damage.

The case was deferred for the court to be supplied with the full estimate of the damage caused to all vehicles, front porches and the shop window.

Police Inspector Jason Sultana prosecuted.
