The Government will soon be launching a consultation process on circus animals.

The Animal Rights Parliamentary Secretariat said it would be holding a number of consultation meetings with organisations, individuals and all those interested in animal welfare to discuss the subject.

The aim of the consultation is to draw up a white paper to create a debate that would better regulate the sector and lead to a decision whether to ban animals in circuses.
