Maltese guitarist and composer Sean Vukovic was awarded an honorable mention in the Instrumental category of the 2012 International Songwriting Competition (ISC) with his song Hurricane Blue.

This is a considerable achievement when taking into account that ISC, described as “the songwriting competition to take note of” by the New York Times, is one of the biggest of its kind with over 20,000 participating entries. The panel of judges included various leading industry officials and iconic artists, among them Tom Waits, Jeff Beck, Derek Trucks and McCoy Tyner.

This is the second honorable mention that Vukovic – a contemporary guitar teacher at Johann Strauss School of Music and a member of local bands Forsaken, Norm Rejection and NV – has been awarded, following the one awarded to him in 2010 for his self-penned composition Song for Rudy.

Both songs were recorded, produced and mastered by Vukovic himself. Check out the video for the Keith Falzon-produced video of Hurricane Blue on his You Tube channel. For more information, look up Sean Vukovic on Facebook.
