Councils considering the introduction of parking schemes should wait until direction on residential parking is given by the government, Parliamentary Secretary for Councils Jose Herrera said.

Dr Herrera today held a meeting with the Sliema council, which a few days introduced such a parking scheme and which was suspended by the government following a teachers’ strike.

Both sides agreed to continue meeting for the best solution to be found.
