The FXDD Futsal Premier League resumed last week following a short break for the KO final with some important games that saw Valletta forfeiting their place in the top flight after losing to Sliema Wanderers 7-3.

Luxol St Andrews beat Ħamrun Spartans 10-6 to preserve their status with Hajossy Laszlo hitting a hat-trick for the Saints. The Spartans were also relegated to Division One.

In other games, Lija lost an opportunity to keep hoping for a berth in the Championship Playoffs after going down to a heavily-depleted Balzan side 7-3.

Balzan, still fresh from their KO triumph a few days before, had some key players out due to injury or suspension but still succeeded in staving off Lija’s challenge.

Hibernians and Floriana shared the spoils in a high-scoring game which finished 10-all. However, the outcome had no influence on the league standings.

Following this last round of matches, the four teams to figure in the Championship Play-offs were confirmed.

Balzan play Tarxien, who ousted Lija from a top-four berth, and runners-up Hibernians take on Żejtun Corinthians.

The second legs of the semi-finals will be played on Friday.
