During the last legislature Franco Debono and his associates, namely the Labour Party headed by Joseph Muscat, used to criticise the Nationalist Party for being the party of a chosen few, the party of an organised clique.
However, since the change in the administration of the country and since the old clique of the PN has been dismantled for good, it seems that now a new clique, headed by none other than Muscat, has been established.
The party with the Malta Tagħna Lkoll slogan has formed a brand new clique composed of chairmen, vice chairmen, consultants in various ministries, commissioners (treated as if they were ministers with salaries exceeding €24,000 plus the luxury of a chauffer driven car and other extras), new board members known for their allegiance to the PL and other invented political positions which the country does not need.
Since the change of administration nothing new has emerged from the top echelons of Government, nothing solid and of substance for the benefit of this tiny island in the Mediterranean.
All the superficial promises uttered during the electoral campaign, promises in favour of a better and more meaningful administration, have already been abandoned or evaporated into thin air. It’s good to be optimistic, cheerful and bubbly when facing the camera or addressing a mass rally, but the Maltese citizens want a level head at the top showing maturity and a better attitude towards the people. By creating a huge Cabinet and a hurricane of unnecessary political appointments, we’re bound to go nowhere!
