48 infringements were reported by the police during the Spring hunting season, Environment Minister Leo Brincat told Mario de Marco (PN) in reply to a parliamentary question this evening.

The minister gave the following breakdown:

Five cases where hunters had more than two cartridges in their shotgun;

Three cases of illegal hunting;

Eight cases of hunters not carrying their documents;

Three cases of hunters carrying loaded and uncovered shotguns in public;

Three cases of unlicensed shotguns; 

10 cases of hunting within 200 metres of an inhabited area;

Seven cases of unlicensed Spring hunting;

Four cases of hunting outside permissible hours (after 3 pm or on Sundays);

Three cases of hunting in the Foresta 2000 Reserve;

Two cases of illegal hunting of protected birds.
