My love affair with Gozo

I first met Gozo 45 years ago.

Although I was in a relationship with Malta at the time I instantly fell in love with her.

We had to part, it was impossible to continue our ‘affair’ at the time but as it is with one’s first true love, I never forgot her, I dreamed of her incessantly.

Though parted we met sometimes over the years; albeit far too briefly and infrequently.

We struggled to continue our affair over the years and I will admit to some temptations along the way; Cyprus you were one, remember?

Each time Gozo and I met we noticed the little changes in both of us, yet she remained less changed than I.

We are soon to be reunited and determined that we shall never be parted again.

I will remain in her arms for the rest of my life, soothed by her presence and soft embrace. She is my safe harbour.
