The 3/11 Regiment Royal Malta Artillery (T) Association, in collaboration with Birżebbuġa council recently held a memorial service near the marble plaque at Wied il-Buni that commemorates six brave soldiers of the Royal Malta Artillery 10 LAA Bty – 3rd Regiment Royal Malta Artillery, who were killed in action at a Bofors gun position sited on the rocky foreshore of the main Kalafrana Road in 1942. The service was attended by a group of 90 students from St Benedict College, representatives from the Malta George Cross Island Association, Birżebbuġa mayor Joseph Farrugia and counsellors and Birżebbuġa parish priest Nicholas Pace. Two Armed Forces of Malta trumpeters sounded the Last Post and the Reveille. Picture shows the plaque commemorating the fallen soldiers.
