The Embassy of France and the Embassy of Germany, in collaboration with Barocco Foundation, is organising a concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty.
The concert will be dedicated to four German and French composers: Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Ravel.
The repertoire will feature a number of compositions which are not performed frequently in the mainstream musical scenes: Maurice Ravel’s Posthumous Sonata For Violin And Piano, Robert Schumann’s Sonata 1 Opus 105 For Piano And Violin, Gabriel Fauré’s Sonata N°1 In A Major For Violin And Piano and Johannes Brahms’ Fae Movement Scherzo.
The performers include Agnès Pyka (violin) and Bruno Robilliard (piano), both members of the Des Équilibres – a French chamber music ensemble that includes orchestral musicians, conservatoire teachers and nationally renowned soloists and chamber musicians.
Founded in 2006 by its artistic director, the violinist Agnès Pyka, it offers a variety of programmes in various formations, performing a large repertoire of rare music dating from the 18th century to the present day in France and in Europe.
The performance will be held in the gardens of Villa Bologna and will be followed by a reception offered by the French and the German embassies.
The concert will be held in the gardens of Villa Bologna, Attard, on May 8 at 8pm. Tickets are available by calling on 7968 0952 or by sending an e-mail to bookings@baroccomalta.com or from Ceramica Shop at Villa Bologna.
