Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today he believed former PL general secretary Jason Micallef would do a good job as chairman of the V-18 Foundation.

The V18 foundation is tasked with preparing Valletta to be European Cultural Capital in 2018.

Replying to questions at the end of a forum on tourism management, Dr Muscat was asked why was it felt that the chairman of the foundation should be changed. He replied: “why not?”

Asked what Mr Micallef's input in the foundation would be, Dr Muscat said that Mr Micallef’s audio visual experience coupled with Mr Felice’s expertise would ensure the success of V-18.

Former chairman David Felice remains a member on the V-18 board.

Dr Muscat said that when Mr Micallef officially takes over the post on a full time bases, he would have to resign his chairmanship of One Productions.

Mr Micallef's appointment has been criticised by the Nationalist Party which said was it was the worst advertisement for the capital city.
