I have been working as a lay missioner in Latin America for 35 years, and in Bogotá, Colombia since 2000.
I would like to thank all the benefactors of the Malta Mission Fund who, through their generosity, have made it possible for a donation to be made towards the mission work I do.
For the last couple of years I have been working on a project to teach a group of women arts and crafts so they can create cooperatives and secure a livelihood.
In another project I give 15 young girls psychological, educational, spiritual and material help so they will not be left to roam the streets.
In a special case, I also assist a 33-year-old nurse who soon after her graduation went to help in a poor area and was infected by a virus which left her paralysed on the right side of her body and unable to speak.
She is now in Bogotá and cannot afford to buy her medicines to alleviate her pain or attend physiotherapy, which is so necessary for her to recover and become independent again.
I therefore want to encourage more people to send used stamps, used telecards or financial donations to the Malta Mission Fund, so that missionaries can continue their work. More information can be found at: www.missionfund.org.mt
God will surely reward this kindness with the less fortunate. The Maltese and the Mission Fund will always be in my prayers.
