Bjorn Kristensen has pledged his future to Hibernians after signing a new five-year contract, the Premier League club said in a statement.

Kristensen has already established himself as one of the leading midfielders in the top flight after breaking into Hibs’ first team a few seasons back.

The 20-year-old, who has come through the youth ranks of Hibs, is also a regular player for the Malta U-21 side and has already made one appearance for the senior team.

News that Kristensen has penned a new five-year deal is a boost for Hibs who on Sunday take on outgoing champions Valletta in a crucial match. The Paolites are level on 42 points with Birkirkara heading into the final weekend of the 2012/13 BOV Premier League.
