Miniature cars, detailed aeroplanes, a three-metre train track and a model of the Mosta dome that took 13 years to complete are being exhibited at the Floriana Scouts headquarters.

Celebrating their 30th anniversary, some 77 members of the Association of Model Engineers put up an exhibition of some 1,000 models that will be on display until Sunday.

The models are set up in different categories, including aircraft, military vehicles, space and science fiction, craft, engineering, model trains, figures, cars, diorama, die cast and marine models.

The main attraction, which is being displayed for the first time, is a model of the Mosta church made from 13,500 matches which took Joe Spiteri 13 years to complete.

Another popular exhibit is a three-metre train track set against a British countryside and village scene.

Some of the models are built from scratch while others are put together from kits and modified by the modellers.

The exhibition is open every day between 9am and 8pm, and until 4pm on Sunday.
