On March 14, 1943, a new government school was opened in the village of San Lawrenz. This means that last month happened to be the 70th anniversary of this special occasion.

The first school was in a large rented house in Ciangura Street, which was later extended by another entrance through Our Lady of Sorrows Street. After this, it moved to another rented house in Tower Street.

In March 1964, a brand new school was inaugurated and served the educational needs of the villagers till 1978 when it was closed down and turned into a government hostel.

It was opened again as a primary school in 1988 and continues to provide its services to the present day.
