April 13 was a red-letter day for the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus. The Holy See acknowledged the long-awaited news that the heroic virtues of their foundress, Mother Margerita De Brincat, had been recognised.
Nine Cardinals who had been given the task of studying her life, writings and what witnesses – both nuns and lay people – had to say about her in the diocesan process, had given a positive vote.
This is another step forward towards the canonisation of this humble nun from Kerċem (1862-1952), who, as a result of the great trust she had in God, succeeded in making Him known and loved in various places throughout the world.
Today, her spiritual daughters continue what she had begun in various houses in Malta, Italy, London, Corfu, Jerusalem, Brazil, Pakistan, the Philippines, Ethiopia and Kenya.
