With their latest album Dirty Dynamite doing extremely well since its release last March, Swiss rockers Krokus have been gearing up for a rousing international tour. The tour kicks off later this week with a string of sold-out concerts at intimate venues in Switzerland during the month of May.

In preparation for the tour, the band has been undergoing regular rehearsals but, perhaps rather curiously and unlike most other bands, it wasn’t the studio that Krokus picked for their practice sessions. Instead they’ve set up their equipment in the living room of bassist and producer Chris von Rohr’s 103-year-old villa, where instead of rocking the building to its rafters, they’ve been holding back on the decibel levels.

According to von Rohr, the exercise helped the band gain a different perspective of the music’s impact.

“If a song played on low volume sounds thrilling, we know that it really will sound incredible played at a higher volume,” he commented on the band’s website.

On top of that, guitarist Mandy Meyer also remarked that playing the songs at low volume was a perfect way to arrange the guitar sounds, apart from the whole experience being a lot of fun for the whole band.

Further to the initial concerts in Switzerland, Krokus, whose frontman is Maltese vocalist Marc Storace, will be playing some huge festivals around Europe, among them the Sweden Rock Festival alongside Kiss and Rush, the notorious Hellfest in France, the Rock of Ages Festival in Germany and Summer Days Festival in Switzerland.

Tours in Asia and America are also on the cards but dates are not yet confirmed.
