Gudja United 1
St Andrews 1

St Andrews and Gudja shared the spoils in a balanced encounter with both teams ending the season in mid-table position.

Gudja were quick out of the blocks and after two minutes Peter Paul Sammut burst through but was denied by Sam Bartolo.

Leslie Burke’s side continued to dictate matters but were never dangerous. In fact it was St Andrews who came close midway through the first half when Trayo Grozev was denied by Ruben Gatt.

Eight minutes from the break Rumen Kerekov saw his close-range shot blocked by the alert Gatt.

Seven minutes into the second half St Andrew’s forged ahead. In a quick break Luke Cesareo hit the ball home after a Joseph Farrugia pass.

On 80 minutes, Matthew Guillaimier almost doubled the Saints lead when he saw his effort pushed away by Gatt.

Marsaxlokk 4
Dingli Swallows 1

Marsaxlokk ended their commitments with a comfortable victory over relegated Dingli.

The southerners were the better side from the outset and despite holding the edge early on they rarely threatened the Dingli goal.

The first chance came on 27 minutes when Gary Caruana missed the target by a whisker following a Douglas Da Silva Silveira pass.

Marsaxlokk’s pressure paid off five minutes from the break when a Ryan Xuereb cross was handled in the box by Tyrone Pace and from the penalty Da Silva Silveira fired in.

The southerners doubled their lead on 66 minutes when Rupert Mangion freed Ryan Mifsud who hit home from close in.

On 72 minutes, Marsaxlokk were awarded a penalty when Christian Muscat fouled Da Silva Silveira in the area and from the spot goalkeeper Omar Borg beat Zarb.

Four minutes later Da Silva Silveira moved past two defenders and hit a firm drive that flew into the net.

The woodwork denied Marsa-xlokk a fifth goal when Marlon Grech’s shot hit the post.

Dingli pulled a goal back in stoppage time when substitute Isaac Bawuah dribbled past Christian Gafa to fire home.
