A woman was today jailed for nine months after pleading guilty to stealing four books on Malta's history from Agenda Bookshop at the Embassy Complex in Valletta.

Sonia Bajada, 40, from Swatar, pleaded guilty to grabbing the books and walking out of the shop with them on April 20. The books cost some €400.

Magistrate Edwina Grima heard that Ms Bajada is a relapser and had 10 convictions on her criminal record, mostly for theft.

She jailed her for nine months.

Police Inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted while lawyer Lucio Schiriha appeared for the accused.
