Four women who came to Malta for what could be described as a ‘working holiday’ yesterday found themselves leaving with a criminal record after advertising their sexual services.

Offering a “full girlfriend experience” and charging up to €350 for two hours, the women promised prospective clients on Adultwork.com a pleasurable time, drawing on a vast knowledge of how to treat “discerning” gentlemen.

Appearing in court yesterday, they seemed very different to the generous personal descriptions on their profiles.

One woman, 60-year-old Annette Gibbs from Northern Ireland, claimed on the website that she was 45. She described herself as a “sophisticated, highly sexed, sensual seductress” and used the pseudonym Annabelle English.

Ms Gibbs stood in the dock together with her friend, Nicola Allen, 50, from Birmingham, who calls herself Imogen Does x. Her profile said she was 44 and had curves in all the right places.

Lawyer Jason Grima, appearing for Ms Gibbs and Ms Allen, asked the court to order a ban on the publication of their names due to the sensitive nature of the case. Magistrate Grixti threw out the request.

Dr Grima said his clients were pleading guilty to the single charge of advertising themselves for prostitution.

In the second arraignment the same charge was filed against 39-year-old Gwendelien Blanken, from Curaçao, who went by the name of Jessica Erotika and said she was 32, and against Carmel Smyth, 34, from Northern Ireland, who called herself Irish Srenna. They both pleaded guilty.

Ms Blanken on her profile said she was a “hot mixed race beauty” who was offering a hot oil massage with a “happy ending” while Ms Smyth’s profile had been removed.

Police Inspector Jason Sultana said the women were arrested from apartments in St Julian’s after they had advertised themselves on the website.

He said they were going to leave the island after the arraignment, adding that they had only been in Malta for some eight days.

Magistrate Grixti took into consideration their early guilty pleas and the fact they were first-time offenders, and conditionally discharged them for two years.
