The two decisive matches from the BOV Division One championship this weekend will be played simultaneously in different venues, the Malta FA announced yesterday.
With only one match left to complete the calendar, Vittoriosa Stars secured promotion to the Premier League after beating Marsaxlokk 6-1 on Sunday.
At present, Vittoriosa (44) have two points more than Lija Athletic (42) who face third-placed Naxxar Lions (41).
The Stars will be looking to crown their season by winning the championship but first they must beat fourth-placed Pietà Hotspurs (40) who could still force a promotion decider if they beat the leaders and the other match ends in a draw.
The Pietà-Vittoriosa match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and Naxxar-Lija at the Tedesco Stadium. Both matches start at 3pm.
Fixtures involving the other teams have not been changed as the relegation issue has already been decided with Dingli Swallows and Mqabba losing their Division One status.
Division One – Saturday
Centenary Stadium: 3pm Pietà vs Vittoriosa; 5.15pm Mqabba vs Birżebbuġa.
Tedesco Stadium: 3pm Naxxar vs Lija; 5.15pm Żejtun vs Gżira.
Division Two – Sunday
Centenary Stadium: 3pm St George’s vs Għargħur.
Division Three - Sunday
Luxol Stadium: 5.15pm Kirkop vs Mġarr.
Sirens Stadium: 3pm Qrendi vs Mtarfa; 5.15pm Luqa vs Mdina.
Monday
Centenary Stadium: 7.30pm Swieqi vs Sirens.
