Las Vegas is called the Entertainment Capital of the World for good reason. Glitzy and outrageous in equal measure, Las Vegas’s reputation as a showbiz mecca was cemented by the likes of the Rat Pack and Elvis 1950s and 1960s.

Half a century later, the party is still going strong, as Prince Harry can testify after baring all there last summer and making headlines worldwide.

No trip to Vegas would be complete without visiting the casino. There are more than 120 located in the city, many of which are housed in world-renowned, luxury hotels. The Bellagio, MGM Grand, Caesar’s Palace and Mandalay Bay are four of the most famous and opulent.

Stay on or close to The Strip to get the most out of your Vegas visit. With many hotels boasting international themes, a stroll along The Strip will take you past exploding volcanoes, Venetian canals and world-class art galleries. To give you an indication of the size of Vegas hotels, 14 out 20 of the world’s biggest are located in the city.

Vegas even boasts the world’s biggest mechanical neon sign – Vegas Vic, the 40-foot-high cowboy that watches over Fremont Street.

Las Vegas can also be a great place to relax (or recover from a hangover), with resort hotels housing fancy spas offering all kinds of treatments designed to rejuvenate tired bodies and foggy minds.

And if you want an everlasting memory of the city, you could always get married. Vegas is home to more than 50 wedding chapels, with more than 100,000 marriage licences issued each year.
