Maserati has revealed its new Ghibli four-door executive saloon ahead of its official unveiling in Shanghai.
The model, which sits beneath the larger Quattroporte in the range, will be the first Maserati ever to be built with a diesel engine alongside its two turbocharged V6 petrol options.
It will also be built with both a ‘Q4’ four-wheel drive system and Maserati-traditional, rear-wheel drive according to customer choice.
The three engines, all following a V6 layout and sharing similar three-litre capacities, mark a step forward in Maserati’s search for more efficiency. The firm’s target is to sell 50,000 cars per year and the Ghibli is, Maserati says, key to reaching it.
Both petrol engines will use an eight-speed automatic gearbox but further details have not yet been released for the diesel drivetrain.
More information will come later this month during the Shanghai Motor Show.
