In general, one doesn’t find too many Italian singers who opt to sing in English. Fewer still are the number that manages to penetrate the international market successfully.

With an impressive string of Top 10 hits, four of which, namely Me and You, Summer is Crazy, The Music I Like and Gimme Love, being chart-toppers, Italian artist Alexia certainly belongs to the latter group.

Further to her rise to prominence in the 1990s as a leading Europop act – initially as the vocalist with Ice MC and later as a solo artist in her own right – Alexia rolled into the new millennium with a fresh outlook that was reflected in her decision to start singing in Italian.

To date, she has sold over six million records, sang at Festivalbar nine times as well as four times at the prestigious San Remo festival, winning the 2003 edition with the song Per Dire Di No and placing second in the other three.

With her latest single, Io No, now out, Alexia is heading out to promote the song with a string of live performances.

Further to appearances around Italy, her tour will also take in various other countries, among them Canada, Poland, Brazil, Finland and Malta. The Italian artist will, in fact, be performing at the Xtreme Classic event, which will be held at the Aria Club in San Ġwann on June 6.

Tickets for the event, which will also feature DJs Etienne and Danny D spinning tunes from the 1980s, 1990s and the Noughties, cost €10 each (more at the door). A limited number of VIP tickets will be available at €15.

For a limited period, those purchasing three tickets will get a fourth ticket for free. For more information, call Xtreme Promotions on 9942 7820.
