Two hooded men found hunting illegally are to be taken to court, the Government has said.

The two were observed at the Foresta 2000 nature reserve and arrested by the  police administrative law enforcement unit (ALE).

"While hunters have the opportunity to hunt legally according to the spring hunting derogation, no law-breaking will be allowed," the Government said.

A board has been formed to draw up a strategy for monitoring and law enforcement during the hunting season.

The members include representatives of the government, the police, the AFM, the FKNK and Birdlife. The chairman is Louis Cassar.

The ALE section has been augmented by other policemen for the spring hunting period.

The public can report hunting offences by dialing 119.
