The Hunters' Federation has appealed to the police to safeguard the rights of all Maltese, including hunters and trappers.

In a statement it said it had been informed that members of CABS, the Munich-based anti-hunting organisation, would this spring be concentrating their monitoring in Gozo.

It appealed to hunters not to allow themselves to be provoked and to call the federation or the police should any illegalities be observed.

It also insisted that the members of CABS cannot take on the role of the police. They cannot enter property and break the data protection law.

The FKNK said it has requested a meeting with the commissioner of police.
