Two foreign-based Maltese swimmers, Andrew Chetcuti and Matthew Zammit, registered personal bests in recent days.

Swimming in the Grand Prix at Mesa, Chetcuti, who holds three Maltese records in the 50, 100 and 200 free, swam the one-lap race in 23.60 to equal his own national mark set in Andorra in 2012.

He was then slightly outside his 100 metres record of 51.67 achieved during last year’s London Olympics when clocking 51.93 seconds.

Zammit, born in 1995, took part in the City of Sheffield Premier Open Meet and swam the 50 and 100 free in 23.89 and 52.69 respectively. These results underline Zammit’s continued progress in England.
