Target shooters from the Malta Shooting Sport Federation have just taken part in two major events as they continue with their preparation for the GSSE in Luxembourg next month.

The competitions included a selection shoot and Stage 2 from the Eley-NSRA UK competition.

In the mixed Air-Rifle event, Marianna Kisvardai scored an excellent 388/400 points, just two points ahead of promising talent Alison Vella. She scored a personal best of 386/400 to finish ahead of Romeo Zuber – 348/400.

In the junior Air-Rifle shoot, Gianluca Azzopardi Spiteri again made it to the top position in the leaderboard with a score of 321 points. Izaac Zammit followed in second place with 267.

Eleanor Bezzina secured first place in the Air Pistol event with a winning score of 370/400 points.

Stephen Vassallo (359 points) followed in second place and Ray Cacciatolo was third with 356 points.

Mario Mallia Milanes was classified fourth with 333 points ahead of Josette Galea, 322, and Martin Grech, 313.

Results will now be sent for official scoring recognition by the National Smallbore Rifle Association in the UK. The Maltese shooters will then be classified along with the others taking part in the competition.

Those who qualify for the finals will compete at the National Shooting Centre in Bisley, England in summer.
