The chief executive of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority, Ian Stafrace, submitted his resignation to the chairman yesterday morning.
A Parliamentary Secretariat for Planning spokeswoman said Dr Stafrace’s resignation “was being considered” and a decision was expected today.
Asked what caused the move, Mepa said Dr Stafrace was not asked to resign. No reason could be given and Dr Stafrace chose not to comment.
Dr Stafrace, a lawyer, was appointed chief executive in March 2011. For the previous 10 years he served the authority as legal adviser and helped draft legal texts and transpose EU legislation into Maltese law.
