Around 70 University students reading for their Diploma in Facilitating Inclusive Education at the Gozo Campus recently visited various historical places in Gozo.
The students, already working as learning support assistants, visited historical sites and museums at the Citadel and Xagħra to assess physical and information accessibility for people with intellectual and other sensory impairments.
April 2 was World Autism Awareness Day and all participants wore ribbons with colours symbolising the puzzle of autism. Some of the students are also working on resources that would help parents and educators prepare autism students for such visits.
The visit was organised by course co-ordinator Elena Tanti Burlo and Ninette Sammut of Heritage Malta.
