After inspections conducted by the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority, it has been noted that a number of food-imitating products can be found on the market.

Attention must be given to products, similar to the ones seen here, which have been withdrawn from the market.

These products, which look like food due to their shape and smell, can be hazardous to children, who might confuse them for food.

In accordance to Maltese subsidiary legislation 427.07, the marketing of such products is illegal. The authority’s Technical Regulations Division is recommending that consumers refrain from using these products and to immediately remove them from their homes, so as not to expose children and other vulnerable consumers to risks of choking and/or chemical pneumonia.

For more information, complaints or notifications regarding dangerous consumer products, call the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority on 2395 2000.
