Last weekend, the Kavallieri women’s team took part in a rugby Sevens tournament in Bologna, Italy.

The Kavallieri girls were up against local side Scarlet Imola, San Marino and a young side from Forli.

The hosts kicked off the tournament against Kavallieri who opened the scoring when exploiting the gap created after switching the ball from one side to the other.

From then, it was hard for Scarlet Imola to keep up with Kavallieri’s solid defending and the Maltese team went on to score three other tries for a final 20-0 score.

Kavallieri then faced Forli whose team was composed of young and energetic players who showed better agility than Imola.

It was the Italian side who scored first as Kavallieri tried to hit back. There were good moves from both teams in attack but Forli were the quicker side and their agility brought other tries for a 30-5 result in their favour.

Kavallieri reserved their best for their last game against San Marino, scoring all their tries in the first half in a 25-5 win.

This was yet another positive rugby experience for the senior and up-and-coming Kavallieri players.

In a statement, Kavallieri thanked sponsors IDS Funds Services and Continental Cars Ltd for their vital support.
