Malta 24
Bulgaria 7

(6-2, 7-1, 6-2, 5-2)

Malta obtained an emphatic victory, scoring no less than 24 times against Bulgaria.

It was a dominant performance from Karl Izzo’s men who were in control right from the outset taking the opening session 6-2.

The match was as good as over at the halfway mark as Malta were cantering 13-3 ahead. This gave the chance to Izzo to use all his players in the squad and give his regulars a breather.

Stevie Camilleri was Malta’s leading scorer with six goals followed by Matthew Zammit (5), Niki Lanzon (3), John Brownrigg (3), Michele Stellini (2), Timmy Sullivan, Sean Gravina, Peter Borg, Mark Meli and Jordan Camilleri.

Today, Malta need to beat Israel to finish second and progress to the next phase of the competition.
