Shireburn Software has sponsored a light-box that will be used by professional restorers to assess documents and books that require restoration at the National Library.

The gesture is part of the company’s support for New Leaf, a non-profit voluntary organisation which preserves antique books at the National Library and promotes the use of public libraries. It is also part of Shireburn Software’s 30th anniversary CSR plan.

Among its list of objectives, New Leaf aims to preserve books at the National Library with specialists and equipment, convert its hand-written library cards to a database, organise book cleaning training and volunteers, convert the outdated cassette-based audio books to MP3, publicise the need for volunteers and promote the use of the national and public libraries.
