Nine Premier League players were handed a one-match suspension yesterday.

Valletta defenders Jason Lee Vandelannoite, sent off in the first half in the 4-2 defeat against Hibs, and Jonathan Caruana, who collected his fourth booking during last weekend’s game, will miss Saturday’s match against Mosta.

Title contenders Hibs will also be without two key players for Sunday’s derby against Tarxien after goalkeeper Mario Muscat and striker Jean Paul Farrugia were given a one-match ban.

Muscat was red-carded in the closing stages of Hibs’ win over Valletta while Farrugia received his fourth yellow card.

Relegation strugglers Ħamrun Spartans, who face Balzan on Monday, had Bledjon Guga and David Camilleri on the suspensions’ list, both for four yellow cards.

Qormi’s Luke Sciberras, sent off in the 4-2 upset to Floriana, will miss his side’s clash with Rabat Ajax who will be without Dylan Falzon, banned for four yellow cards.

Melita have lost Manuel Sierra Camacho, suspended for four cautions, for their match against Floriana on Monday.
