The Commissioner of Police is leading an investigation into a Civil Service exam, held last January, amid suspicion of fraud involving a large number of candidates.

The government suspended the process as the first results started to be issued.

Some 800 civil servants sat for the exam aiming to improve their civil service grade.

Questions were raised over changes in the pass rate as the results started being issued.

The process was stopped by the head of the civil service, Mario Cutajar after examiners made allegations about what had happened, informed sources said.
