World famous tenor Joseph Calleja proudly escorted a German film crew around Valletta yesterday for a TV programme showcasing the capital.

“I feel re-energised the moment the door of the plane opens in Malta,” he told the film crew at Upper Barrakka Gardens.

Minutes earlier he had told The Times how proud he was to be Malta’s only official cultural ambassador, a title he was given in February 2012.

“All Maltese have a duty to be ambassadors for our island,” he said.

The German crew were in Malta to shoot an episode of a special Euromaxx series entitled Euro 28 to mark the show’s 10 years on the air.
