Michael Briguglio revealed this morning he would be stepping down from the post of Alternattiva Demokratika chairman.

"There are absolutely no political or career motives or aspirations for my decision. If life is a question of 'to have or to be', I wish to opt for the latter," he wrote on his blog.

"I now long for peace and quiet, for more time with my loved ones, and to further develop my music and my sociological studies," he said, pointing out he intended to continue with his role as AD councillor for Sliema.

He leaves the post after almost four years.

AD obtained its best result in a general election last month, but once again failed to get any candidate elected to Parliament.
