World Autism Awareness Day is being celebrated on Tuesday. The intention is to bring the world’s attention to the developmental disorder that affects tens of millions of individuals globally.

Children with autism make up one per cent of the child population, with four out of five children diagnosed being boys. Inspire, the foundation for inclusion, has developed a range of specialised programmes that respond to the needs of individuals with autism.

Besides numerous program-mes to help autistic children on a weekly basis, Inspire Early Years children can visit and make use of the therapeutic services at Inspire’s Marsascala branch.

Facilities like the indoor hydrotherapeutic pool, the multisensory theatre and therapeutic horseback riding provide the children with an opportunity to develop numerous skills in a variety of environments.
