Two frigates and a supply ship of the Chinese Navy have arrived in Grand Harbour on a rare visit.

The modern, Chinese-designed Huangshan and Hengshan and the replenishment ship Qinghaihu, a Russian design, sailed in slowly under bright sunshine watched by several people on vantage points around the harbour.

The task force has just concluded a four-month anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Aden, providing security escort to civilian and commercial vessels of various nationalities including Maltese.

The naval units are berthed at Pinto Wharf and will be open to the public for viewing between 9am and noon in the morning tomorrow and between 2 and 5pm on Thursday.
